I got my new smartphone less than 24 hours ago and just got a message from Koodo advising I have used more than $10 in data. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? I haven't searched any websites, sent any pictures - nothing! I haven't even made a call! HELP
Is this your first smartphone? If not then it probably synced your contents of your account to your new phone. If you used any apps like Facebook ect they take data as well as widgets or live tiles.

Thanks for your response! It's my first personal one yes - I have one thru work but upgraded my LG Flip phone (lol) yesterday to the Nokia Lumia. I didn't visit any webpages at all - not facebook, not google. - nothing!
Try going to Settings > Cellular > Data services off.
Despite the fact that you never saw any webpages, could it be that you installed an app, perhaps? Or sent email? Once the setting is enabled on your phone from the beginning, even if you don't use it, some things auto-update in the background so I would ensure it's checked off. I always turn it off on my client's phones when they don't have one of the Data plan combos or don't want to use data at all - in that case a data block is better but that disables pic messages so I simply shut it off on the phone.
