Last month I travelled to the US. I bought a 10 day combo roaming package. Now that I'm back in Canada, I was reviewing my data usage and during my time away, data was being used. Doesn't the roaming combo package mean that I am buying extra US data. Why would there be data usage for the time that I was away?

if you went over the data usage, then you would end up being charged for the overage.

I believe the 10 day US roaming combo allows 250 MB for 10 days, but if you go over that you are charged an overage rate of $5/50 MB

Unless you are talking about your regular usage on your plan

You are still using that data - it just means that you will not be charged the price of US roaming data (current plans are $5/MB for data roaming).

ie. your plan allows you 1GB of data - does not matter where you use that data (US or Canada) that is included in your plan - what matters is how much you are getting charged for it:

Roaming combo allows 250 MB of data for $40, instead of 250 MB of data for $1,250

The current roaming rate is $5/ 20 MB actually, just thought you ought to know :) you can see it on the plans page.

Daniel - from the looks of the plans and the addon information:

if you have pay per use data roaming it is $5/20 MB,
US roaming for data without pay per use according to plan details seems to be $5/MB (that s from the info from the plans themselves)
and the overage rate for the US roaming combo is $5/50 MB

There are some spots on the Koodo website that haven't been updated yet, but the pay per use roaming rate for the United States is $5/20 MB it was implemented on August 28th.

Thanks for your replies. Just to be clear I bought the roaming package for $40 which gave me 250 mb. I thought that was extra data to use while in the US, but I a
also drained my regular data. So are you saying that the package doesn't give me more than my regular data but just allows me to roam without extra roaming charges while in the US.

I really appreciate you clearing this up for me.

Hi Wendy,

When it comes to the US roaming add ons they use a separate amount of data from your bundle you'd have in your Koodo plan. So if it was broken down properly it should show the roaming add on usage and not just your plans usage. But if you need further information in regards to your bill, you can call customer service at *611 from your Koodo phone and press 0 a few times to speak with a representative. It's a free call.

Hope that helps :)
