Data usage by my billing cycle and phone's measurements of usage

Currently my data usage by my billing cycle and my phone's measurements of usage are out of sync. As a consequence I have been paying monthly overages as my phone has been letting me use excess data amounts. Any idea how to properly sync these?

Hello Jessica.

Haven't you set up text notification to alert you when you reached your 90% data consumption? Keep in mind that the phone's measurement isn't the most reliable thing. You need to make sure that the start day of the measurement on your phone is the same as the one on your billing date. Make sure that it reset every month. At your place, I'd set up alert notifications so this problem doesn't happen in the future.

D you know how to do such thing?

When you set-up the data limiter on your phone, you are able to put in the date that the phone's data resets. Right now the date is probably not setup properly. When you log into self serve, click on "view usage" you will see the date of your cycle, for example September 25 to October 24. Meaning your billing cycle restarts on the 25th, so in this situation the date you put into the data limiter on the phone would be 25.

Hi Mathieu, this sounds like the problem I'm having. While I have the alerts from Koodo for when the phone is reaching it's monthly limit, the phone itself isn't measuring these cycles by the correct dates. Any idea how I can shift these?

Go to settings, data usage.

Here you will see the date range, example Aug 25 - Sep 24, with an arrow pointing down. Tap on this and you will see "Change cycle" at the bottom of the drop down menu. Now a  new window pops up, and you can set the date your usage resets. Make sure you put in the first day of your cycle. For example, if on self serve you say your cycle was from September 25 to October 24, make sure to put 25 as the cycle reset date and not the 24.

I have the same problem. Tried the instructions above but do not see "Change cycle" in the drop-down menu.
