Data Usage

Data Usage: I have a plan with 1G data on an iphone 7, I almost never use the entire amount of data until the last few months I am using it up like crazy. Typically I would have on my email, facebook, safari, messenger and a couple other apps that I use regularly, everything else I would have off, I also have my wifi assist, LTE and all that jazz off as well. The last 2 months I have had every app turned off for data and only turn on briefly when I need to use it, I also have wifi at home and work but for some reason the last 2 months even with everything off I'm still using up all my data. Can anyone tell me something I'm missing?

Go to Settings>Cellular and you can see how much data each app has used.  This will help narrow down which app have been using more data than you expect

Hi Candi, you mentioned you use FB, they have changed their videos to play on the highest quality available by default in the most recent updates so if your watching video on FB it won't take long to eat through your 1gb of data. Change this setting especially if you have it set to Auto play videos as your scrolling through your timeline.
You can go into your data usage in your settings and see what's taking the most data as well.

I have it set to only play on wifi, also the last 2 months I've had my data turned off for Facebook so I can only use it when I'm on wifi but thanks! My most used was location and time, realized it has eaten through 827MB in 3 weeks, going through my settings now to figure out why, even though I haven't changed any of them ever so not sure why all of a sudden it's using so much?

Settings>Privacy>Location Services

Turn off any apps you dont want location services ok.  And choose "while using" for those you want to use location services

How app apps do you have open when you check your app swicher (double click your home button)?

I had close to a dozen open. I've switched them all to never or while using. Hopefully that will make a difference.

Also just to be on the safe side, do a hard reset.

To do this:
Hold the power and the home button until you see the apple logo.  Then release.
