Data overage charge with shock free data plan :(

I currently have a "shock free" data plan that includes  500 MB + 500 MB bonus = 1000MB total data.

Received the koodo text your data limit has been reached (1024 MB) and data service has been suspended. Also received the koodo text saying data has been re-enabled due to start of a new billing cycle. However there was a $5 data overage charge for the extra 24 MB of data usage.

It appears the automated system default setting is for 1 GB = 1024 MB, however the plan is for 1000 MB thus data does get limited, but not to the plan setting.

I have emailed a complaint about this to Koodo last week and am waiting for a response to correct this billing issue as well as setting the data limit to the correct value. I recommend anyone else on the 500 MB + 500 MB plan to watch their account statements until this is corrected.

Let us take a look at your account Jason. Is it the line ending with 72?

Still checking on this Jason. You are on 1gb $40 plan not double data though so if there is an issue it's somewhere else. Your overage is actually around 3mb not the 24 you mentioned. Stay tuned.

Hi Bernard,

Thanks for looking into this. I get conflicting info when logging into my Koodo Self serivce account. From the intial login it clearly states "500 MB + 500 MB BONUS Shock-Free Data" but the PDF bill states 1GB.

Also when I look at last months data usage from the slef service area it is 1024.01MB however the bill indicates 1027.491 MB. Therefore you are correct on the error being 3.5 MB not 24 MB.

Let me know when you have more info.

Ok, I have to check and have that inconsistency of plan details fixed. Now at the end of day the data amount is the same, but agree it may cause some confusion.

On the data overage front, it looks like the extra data is from the prior month but wasn't captured. It was though caught on your last billl and added but that pushed you over your limit. So, indeed a credit is due to you and will be given. Thanks for your patience Jason while we were trying to figure this one out.
