I just bought an added GB of data and within literally one minute I got two texts saying I had used all of that data. I had my facebook open on my laptop. Not even scrolling and get these messages

We're you using your phone as a hotspot? Your laptop uses way way more data then your phone does so that could explain using data so quickly.
Did you log into self serve to see if you actually used the data and it wasn't texts sent prior to buying more data but wasn't received yet.
Also check your data usage on the phone in the settings menu and it will show you what used your data

Yes. i logged into self serve and it says it was used. 20 bucks up the poop shoot. Didn't even do anything to use it. If that's how koodo works, I won't be staying. It is absolutely ridiculous.

I was but how then when I was with Freedom did I never have this issue. There is no way I used a gigabyte in 45 seconds. The computer was open that was it.

@Kim: With the download speed of 50MBs or more with LTE, if your computer was onto something, it could consume 1GB in less than a minute. It could be an update of windows, antivirus or something else in the background.

You could check the data download amount in your computer, in the network settings (if you haven't turned off the laptop).

Thanks. Suffice it to say I will not be using the hotspot again as long as I am with koodo.

You can set windows computers to recognize it as a limited network where it will not automatically download updates and such. You'd also have to check anything in the background like steam and such to not update in case you find yourself needing to Hotspot again.

You do know that using hotspot with any other carrier will have the same results? Freedom's hotspot is not different from Koodo's. It's the same thing.
