Data block clarification

So, my daughter had a samsung and now has an iphone which uses data up like crazy (apparently this is an iphone thing). She has her data (1GB with our plan) off most of the time but cannot receive pictures via text unless she turns it back on - which is a pain turning off and on to control her data usage. If i add the Data Block to her plan, will she still be able to access apps and internet as long as she is connected to wifi? Just trying to figure out if this add on is a benefit or not to help her control her data usage. Thanks!

If you added this add-on, then she can't access her 1 GB tho.

Check her phone setting if there is WIFI assist on or update background app through wifi only...etc
So, they can block her 1GB data, but they can't stop her from going over her 1GB? Sounds fishy.

If she has a shock free plan then it will stop when she reaches her limit and she will have to text a response to Koodo to keep using more data above her allotment of 1gb. If she doesn't have a shock free plan then not it will not stop when reached

Her data would be stopped at 1GB.

Koodo data automatically stops when users reach 100% (if you set up in your selfserve). UsersĀ  have to agree for overage before using more data.

Yes. The $2 a month data block shuts everything down except for multimedia texts. Her wifi will continue to work as usual. That's completely independent of mobile data.

Hello Heather,

Adding the add-on is not the right option in order to control the data on your daughter's phone. The best option is SFD which is available on all plans.

All plans with Koodo have shock free data now as well so there shouldnt be a problem here...

In Settings, goto Cellular, scroll down and toggle off apps which you do not use. Apps such as Facebook can eat up data ike crazy. Then toggle off iCloud Drive and Wifi Assist if your wifi network is solid.
