Hi wugooey,

Contrary to my initial post, I have been informed that there are no credit checks when upgrading your phone. What they do is verify your payment history on your account and make their decision based on that. It never goes to a full on credit check whenever your upgrading your phone. I apologize for my previous post and have removed it and corrected myself here.

Sorry once again! Have yourself a great night!

I was wondering about this today and it completely answered my question.  I'm thinking of getting a new phone because my current one still works, but it's getting old and the charge drops really rapidly when I talk on the phone.  It can go from full charged to half charge in just over half an hour.

Is your phone's battery removeable? You can just get a new battery if you don't want to buy a new phone yet. Which phone do you have? Even if it's not removeable, and your phone is no longer under warranty, you can still either pay to have the battery replaced or do it yourself if you feel you can follow youtube videos on how to do.

it has two cracks in the screen and the battery is not removable which if it was, I wouldn't be considering it.  It's a HTC One V.  I would have to take the entire phone apart to get at it.  It's going on five years old in August.   After the motherboard died once, they replaced the battery and the motherboard.  This was three months after I got the phone.  It's been a pretty solid phone so far despite the cracks in the screen.  That's why I haven't traded it in yet.

I went to a phone repair company and they said they can't fix the phone.  They stopped selling the parts almost two years ago.  If something went wrong they would have no way to repair it.  So I upgraded
