I would like very much to buy the new iPhone 6 plus but I am worried about a old Telus bill I once had in a different province around 1999, I do not have good credit as I am on Ontario Disability, is it possible I would be approved

Hey Wayne, I don't know if you'd be approved or not but all you can do is try as nobody will know for sure that isn't running the actual credit check. If you are approved you may just be put onto a Spending Limit program that caps how high your bill can get before your cut off. Like I said just go try at your local kiosk and see what they can do for you if possible.
Good Luck.

Just a point that if you use a credit card for your main credit check and also set it up as a pre authorized payment you have a higher chance of getting approved.

Provided your history with that credit card is really good... however, Koodo may slap a provisional authorization equal to the entire tab balance at the time of sale if they are not convinced.

All you can do is try, and the worst that can happen is that they say no.

Actually I do not have a credit card I have a debit visa, I do have the other id required, and I would set up the direct payment option,I would have no problem paying my monthly bill that would be about 85$

A debit visa is not a visa card. It's a debit card that can sometimes be used to make purchases online like a credit card. Honestly I have no idea where Devon got his/her information from because using a credit card during a credit check does not make it anymore likely you'll be approved AND "also set it up as a pre authorized payment you have a higher chance of getting approved" is also not true as you need to pass the credit check and create a Koodo account before automatic payments are setup. Automatic payments do not help you pass the credit check.

As someone who works for koodo I can tell you that if you use a credit card that has a good history they are more likely to approve you opening an account. And setting up the pre authorized payment is one the same forum as applying for the account. If you set it up at that time it shows koodo you are willing to commit to making the payments on time.

I'm not saying that it is going to give you better credit results, but koodo is more likely to approve the activation. I can tell you that from experience.

But you are correct that a debit visa dose not work for credit check as it dose not work on credit

Don't worry Wayne, I know someone with bad credit and owed telus with no credit card and was approved with a credit limit on file so you never know unless you try :) everyone is different. Also income is not a factor in the credit making decision with koodo. Just Mae sure you pay your bill on time if and when you get an account with koodo.
