Hi Matthew!

That's odd.

If you added the add-on, then all should be in place on your account to use the network when roaming. I also checked and your phone is compatible with the Cubacel network.

It may be possible that the specific area you are in has no network. There may be some areas that Cubacel does not cover in Cuba.

Have you done a power cycle (on/off)?

If I understand correctly, you already selected the network manually?

Here's how, just in case:

From the home screen, tap the Applications icon.
Scroll to and tap Settings.
Tap Mobile data.
Tap Network operators.
Tap Search networks.
Wait whilst the handset searches for available networks.
Tap the required network.

Keep us posted. :)

Hi Daniel, tried all that,it attempts to connect to cubacel for 20 sec or so then i get message that my sim will not allow connection to this network.Sim worked in an iphone 4 in mexico and the dominican republic. When i switched to this phone, they cut the sim down to fit. There was what appeared to be a cell tower within sight of our hotel.

Hi Matthew, I did some updates on my end. Can you try to turn off/on again?

You mentioned that the SIM card was cut down to fit the Nano slot on the M8. That may have been causing the issue. Cutting down a SIM can damage the gold contacts, no matter how carefully it's done. It's better to get the properly sized SIM next time, as that will ensure the best connection.

While that's true, I see no reason why the SIM card would work here, but not in Cuba. I've cut many SIM cards usually cutting a part of the contacts) and all but one worked. And the one that didn't work, didn't work at all. That was the only one I attempted cutting with scissors following a template. All others were with a SIM cutter. The cards aren't all that sensitive.
