Hello,

I have a Canada-wide postpaid unlimited minutes plan with Koodo. If someone in Asia calls my by Google Hangout Dialer (to my Koodo number) does it have a roaming (or international) cost for me?

Thanks

Incoming calls are incoming calls, no matter where they originate from. If you don't pay anything when a local friend calls you, you won't pay anything when someone from abroad calls you.

Thanks. May I ask when roaming or international charges may be applied to our account?

@Mohammad:
1. Roaming charges apply when you use service on partner networks outside of Canada (make or receive calls including checking voicemail, sending SMS, using data)
2. International charges (outside of roaming) can apply if you add the overseas calling saver and call overseas numbers, or dial the US

To my understanding, to call out from Google Hangouts for free to Canada or US, it requires physically using the service in Canada or US. I'm not sure whether spoofing your GPS location or use VPN would accommodate using Google Hangouts to call Canada from Asia (plus a VPN would slow traffic meaning call quality would worsen).

I'd recommend MagicApp or Freetone if overseas for calling North America free via data or wifi.

Actually I know that calling out from Google Hangouts only uses wifi wherever you are. but I am not sure about the charges that would be applied to the call receiver (me)!

Now you know. Doesn't matter whether the call is originating from a mobile, landline or VOIP, whether it's coming from a Canadian or foreign number. An incoming call uses your minutes in your plan, or is at no extra cost to you if you're on unlimited calling.

And also what is the difference between "Koodo mobile" and "airtime" in usage tab in self serve? both of the show similar minutes!

What I see is "Koodo Mobile" is the carrier banner at the top-left corner of the page (to link back to the home page). Air time is your minutes usage for phone calls.
