Constantly receiving text messages twice from iphone on prepaid

My husband and I are on monthly Koodo plans on iPhone.  My two daughters and son are each on prepaid Koodo plans with iPhones.  Both my husband and I receive the same text twice from my ONE daughter when she is not connected to WiFi (using iMessage), there is no problem with the other two's phones.  I have adjusted her settings on her phone multiple times and reset her network settings twice.  From what I have read on this forum looking for a solution to this problem, I am wondering if I have to reset her phone and restore from a back up (using iCloud not itunes) or call Koodo customer service to have them do something at their end or have her SIM card replaced as it may be faulty..?  I really do not want to have to reset and restore her phone... A solution that works to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated!

Sometimes it's an (area) signal issue or a provider issue,. When the text is sent, sometimes it will fail for a second due to poor connection and it automatically retries and that goes through, also the first attempt goes through as it found the network the same time the second one was dispatched. You can try calling 611 to see if they can "reset" your connection to the network. But in reality it should stop happening. Although a factory restore of the device is drastic and usually not needed, it definitely wont hurt to try and resolve the issue.

It has been continuous for well over a year with each and every text regardless of where we are -our rural home (full bars), local town, nearest city.  The texts are always about 7-13 minutes apart.  The weird thing is that it has never happened with my other daughter or my son's phone both on the Koodo network as well.  I will call customer service and ask them to reset her network connection as you suggest. Perhaps asking for this to be done specifically will work this time as the last time I called nothing changed.
Thanks for the info!

That's definitely weird. Could be a network issue or a phone issue then. My advice would be call first, see if there is anything they can reset for you. And then reboot your phone, if nothing happens and it's till going on, I would try the factory reset of the device and then restore your settings and hopefully that will work. Last step could be replacing the actual SIM card.
Best of luck.

Do all of your children have the same prepaid plan? In their settings to they all have iMessage activated? Or only that ONE daughter? I'd say this is a problem with the iMessage. When your daughter doesn't have wifi it sends the text as normal text message (green) then when it find wifi it sends it again as iMessage(blue). Disabling iMessage would be the solution to your problem in that case.

Yes, sometimes its a good thing to do. I know a lot of people who do it every few months just to keep things fresh on the phone. It absolutely will not hurt. Do it whatever way you want, icloud/itunes, if one doesn't work, try the other.

I think I will leave it for a few days, see what happens when she leaves the house (no wifi) and reconnects with the school wifi... then if no luck reset and restore.  I agree a change in SIM card would likely be the very last resort after that.

Yeah SIM change would be my last shot at fixing it. Best of luck!

Fixed it!  Had the idea to delete the existing texting thread between us on my phone... earlier I had noticed that her phone number was listed as 'mobile' not 'iPhone' -changed it- started a new message thread, tapped Details, tapped the information icon, tapped the text bubble (that would start a new message from Contacts) and it shot back to messages with "new iMessage" on top, send button turned blue, and the text went through as an iMessage.

Not sure exactly why that worked but I suspect my phone was 'stuck' on thinking it was in a text only mode to a mobile number since she was in my contacts as one before.  Perhaps after changing the number to 'iPhone' the new thread prompted iMessage to work as it should after all the reactivating/rebooting...  Anyways, glad it worked and hopefully this will help others out with the same issue!
