Confused about changing from old plan to a new one. The costs involved.

I've got a an old plan $40/M 300min and 300 meg. I've got $25 left on my tab. My billing cycle ends on the 10th of the month today is the 18th. I'm looking at switching to the new $50 plan 500 min and 2GB data. I understand that I have to pay off my $25 tab. My question is what is this proration and how much is it? If I change my plan today do I instantly have 500 min and 2GB data to use up to the 10th of Oct ? I'm assuming I can do this in self-serve but reading responses on other threads for the last hour hasn't cleared things up.

So Prorationing would mean that your minutes would be prorated but your data available would instantly 2gb. As you go through the process of changing your plan, the system will give you a heads up as to what your next bill will look like.
