I want a child friendly phone so my 5 yr old can contact me when needed. I see these phones in the states and want to know if anyone offers them up here. It is a very restricted phone that has number presets.

Take a look at

Load it onto your Android phone and give it a try. If satisfied, find a cheap used Android phone for your kid on Kijiji.

A lot of the "dedicated" child or senior phones required signing in with a specific provider, usually US. Canadian carriers seem to have dropped any "simpleton" offerings such as the Doro senior.

Thank-you. Looks like a great app and opens up some easier doors! :)

Actually to save some money and headache, did you know that every 5 year old comes with a supervising adult who already has access to a phone or have the ability to find one when said child needs to contact you. Usually there is security involved with the child asking for permission before being allowed to use the phone, or really to do anything.

There are many models. They are teachers, family members, babysitter, friends, other legal guardians. There is even an emergency mode called police officers, fire fighters, block parents, etc.

But it can be hard to find one that provides unlimited weekend minutes...

@Dennis
When answering people's questions you may want to put away the condescension and think why before providing an answer that isn't helpful. I am currently going through custody issues and my ex is very unreliable. I want my child to be able to call me whenever he needs to and doesn't have to rely on the adults to provide him with the phone. It's about providing him with a sense of security not giving him a frivolous object to play with.
