My monthly renewal of the $15 base plan always charges me too much. I have automatic top-ups set up, so I should be saving 10%. However, $17.25 ($5+tax) gets charged to my credit card each month! How can I fix this?

Check your account balance. Your 10% credit shoud accumulated there.
And once you have enough amount for plan or booster, you can use it.

Do you live in a province that has HST? Could that account for the extra charge?

No, Nick expected a 10% discount of his bill, when in fact it is a 10% credit which accrues.

As you surmise, $15 + 15% HST = $17.25.

$15 credited to account + $1.50. It's clear on the transaction history. Interesting to see how Koodo just blows off the taxes from the transactions, though it actually makes things a little more clear. They should have a disclaimer at the top of that page that taxes are charged, collected and remitted to the government as required in addition to the transactions shown.
