This is the first month since I got a Nexus 4 at Koodo. I went with the $29 plan. I am not a data user, and I have WIFI connection at home and at work. I noticed that I am charged $5 for data usage, and I have no idea of why it happened. I now turned off the mobile data option on my phone, does anyone know if this can help me not be charged for data usage again?

If you left your data on and a background app was trying to update that would be the cause of your data leakage.

Yes turning off mobile data will prevent data leakage, however with data off you will not be able to send picture messages

I see. I don't use any picture message, so that will be fine. Thanks

If you are ok without using mms(picture messages ), you can add " Data block add-on".

Also, there's never going to be a notice that you're using data because you're on a pay-as-you go data!

Yeah, well maybe when you reach near 50MB but what I meant was warnings. Example you let a background app using data there's no text message that is going to tell you you're using data! Or someone asking you if you really want to use it.
