charged for roaming when not in US

Hello,  I am receiving roaming charges on my bill for both international data and text.  I have not been in the US for a while.  I live in a boarder town (Niagara Falls) so this is most likely why it happened.  Do I have any course of action, or am I stuck paying the charges.

Thanks!

Hello CSorley,

You can call Koodo in roder to revers the charges. Also, please set up your connection to manually select carrier in order for that not to happen anymore.

If you tell us your phone we could help with that.

I second Robert's suggestion to switch your phone carrier selection from Automatic to Koodo. This will prevent connection to US-based carrier towers, and future billing headaches.

Don't forget to turn off your data roaming, as well. When you receive phone calls and texts you are safe, the problem is when you call someone.

Shouldn't be some warning though that you are roaming on US tower?

That is well known problem for a lot ot folks leaving close to US borders. another option would be to switch to fully prepaid plan

I edited that because even when you receive texts or phone calls it could be treated as if you are in US at the moment. It means roaming charges, too.

There is. When you first connect to a US carrier there is a text message sent you, then weekly, if you continue to connect. The phone also tells what carrier you are connected to at any given time.

It means CSarley didn't receive text messages or there is some glitch on his phone or in his area. It is worth to talk to Koodo rep, indeed.

No, it doesn't. The OP is silent on that topic.
