I'm on a tab medium plan paying $55 a month. My data limit is 1Gb . When I hit my limit my data was turned off (as to be expected), however, one day it suddenly went back on (as I tried to open a link my friend texted me), and then it suddenly stopped working. I figured okay, no biggie, probably a server disruption on Koodo's side.

I then get my bill and it shows a $5 fee added. I looked into my usage history and it shows .3mbs as an overage on the day that I was able to access the internet. I never consented by texting "yes" for additional data, nor was I able to access the internet after that day (until my data was turned back on).

Koodo has shock-free data, meaning I shouldn't be paying overage fees if I don't consent. Should I call them and debate this charge? Will I need to pay that extra $10 for changes to my account if I do?

Were you close to the US border at all? If you weren't and you indeed didnt answer yes to the text than you can contact Koodo about it.
I'd suggest messaging them via facebook before calling and you won't get charged the $10 fee for just disputing this charge. The fee is only for account changes done by a rep that you can do yourself (changing your plan, etc.)
