Is data turned on? In order to send picture messages, a data connection is required thus you need to turn on data. You will not be charged however since you have Unlimited SMS/MMS. However, if you have any background applications that may use data in the background, you may be charged for those so be careful.

Thanks for the fast reply.

All this is new to me... This is how it started:

I had the $25. plan with the BlackBerry Value $10. add-on for unlimited text and BBM.

Since I'm not using BBM anymore and I noticed the newer plan has unlimited text & picture messaging, I changed to that plan and removed the value add-on.

Is it possible that with the value add-on I had data turned on, and by removing it, it cancelled it?

Please can you help advice me?

How do I turn the data on, while also ensuring background apps don't use it.....I don't want to have the surprise of unexpected data charges, I only want to be able to sent pictures while texting, not use any other apps.

Yup your change is essentially what went wrong.

On a Blackberry you need either a blackberry add on or a data plan to send pictures due to the way data (including MMS messages) are sent through blackberry servers. Without the data plan/blackberry add on your phone will not connect to those servers and the picture will not be sent.

Any bb add on, even the unlimited bbm for $5 a month will provide access to the RIM servers and allow picture messaging to work.
