changed carriers lost contacts when changed carriers and Sim cards have old Sim if I were to insert old Sim into phone could I retrieve my old contact list and save it somehow or would it screwvuo all the new stuff with the new carrier

Hello April,

This would be valid only if you have saved your contact on the SIM card. If you did, it wouldn't screw it up.

Are you sure you didn'T save your contacts elsewhere like Google?

If the contacts are on the old SIM card, you can do as you describe. A web search with the model of your phone, and “move contacts from SIM” should find instructions.

Do you have a Samsung device? If you do the phone factory resets when you put in a new SIM Card. You can sync your phone with your backed up Google account and see if they were backed up.
Go to settings - accounts - google and and make sure contacts is on of the checked off options and then tap the 3 dots in the top right hand corner and then tap sync and let it sync the device to your cloud account assuming you backed up your device at some point, this is done automatically at times.

I have a moto G do I do this with NiY new Sim card still in..I don't want to do any damage to my new carrier acct
