It is possible, but you have to get a prepaid SIM.
And you are still responsible for any service charge and Tab balance.
How long ago you left Canada?

Do you want/need to keep your number?
Then get a prepaid SIM first and activate it with temporary number. And Port/transfer your number into prepaid account.
I don't believe Koodo will release your number if you have a few month of balance. Clear it first and you will be able to port your number.

If you don't need to keep your number, just to get a prepaid SIM and activate it.
And call Koodo to cancel your account.

Either way, you have to contact them.
Many people said they use Skype to contact Koodo from abroad.

Thank you Mathew ! In that case, you just have to get a prepaid SIM and activate it, then you can change your number and bring yours over to the prepaid.

Please note that you can find all the accepted methods of payment for your monthly customer http://koo.do/Joixyw .
