Change from Rogers Share Everything to Koodo individual plans

My wife and I are looking to change from a Rogers Share Everything plan to individual Koodo plans now that our phones are a couple months from being paid off (can easily pay the remaining balance).

I ordered the SIM online for my phone, but am wondering how to proceed to be able to refer my wife and port both our numbers from Rogers.

Is it as simple as porting mine now, then doing her's when the next SIM is delivered? Porting mine won't cause my account with Rogers to be cancelled?

Both phones are unlocked iPhone 7s.

Refer your wife before you do any more. She has to be referred before she signs up with Koodo.

Porting your number will cancel your line with Rogers, not the account. Once your wife ports her number to Koodo, that will cancel the account.

Make sure your wife completes step 2 of her referral after her Rogers number is ported over.  If she does it prior and uses the temp koodo number, the refferal wont work since that temp number wont exist 6 weeks later
