So, what's the point of unlimited pictures message if you need a data? Sucks that IOS 11 don't have the option in changing the APN for MMS anymore. Used to have Cellular data ON on iOS 10 and can edit the APN so that it won't charge for pay per use. Can Koodo manually change this option?

I didn't update to iOS 11 so I didn't know they removed the APN setting. Are you sure They didn't just relocate it?

Data must be on since MMS uses the same data "pipeline" as regular data. Koodo just doesn't charge you for that photo that went through that pipeline.

My suggestion would have been to edit the apn

You can the $2/month data block with picture messaging add-on if you want.

@Dennis, yes they removed it can't find it anymore and only one APN setting under Cellular Data. If I turn ON the Cellular Data it automatically charge the data/use $5 because some apps in background are using it and can't control all of them to shutdown. Whereas in iOS10 you can just put a dummy APN on the data while not affecting the MMS APN.

@Allan yes that's another option but it should be free since they advertise for unlimited mms messages. I just don't know why the settings are not accessible anymore. Is there a way to put it back the APN options?

If you want to test it, connect to a strong wifi signal (make sure wifi assist is off) and then enable cellular data.  No cellular data will be used in this case.

On a side note, this is why i never update anything unless i absolutely need to.  Some times I break my own rule (like updating google maps) and it doesnt function as it did before and causes more inconvience.

The carriers has disabled the option with Apple devices to change APN on iOS 11. I didn't find it on mine either. I personally don't think it is a good idea to use a smartphone but no cellular data, many features of a smartphone are missing without it. If you want it that much, it is time to switch to Android.

"Free MMS" just means they won't charge MMS, I think.

Call Koodo and argue with them maybe they'll give you the add-on for free. If you know how to deal it right, it might happen. But my name is Carl, not Robert.
