I was just offered a Samsung S3 through Virgin for $0.00 and $100.00 gift card, they will transfer my current # and I just swap carriers, will Koodo offer me the same so I don't have to swap carriers

Koodo doesn't offer any retention deals... but it's worth trying!

What plan are you going to be with on Virgin?

No. Koodo does not make special offers. Everyone gets the same deals.

I don't know what plan Virgin offers in your region, but I prefer Koodo when comparing the plans... Also, with Koodo yo get 15% while on Virgin it's 10%.

Like the others said koodo seems to want to stay fair with everyone and not give special treatment to selected customers. And I'd say good on them! Either everyone gets what you get or no one. That said this happens in reverse as well, when Virgin customers join koodo and I'm pretty sure virgin doesn't give someone a $100 gift card to stay either.

Let us know what you end up doing. We are all curious.

We stopped being able to order S3s on Virgin ages ago... I'm surprised stores still have stock with that kind of price. Koodo miraculously keeps shipments coming in (we've sold almost 20 alone this month) but I feel like they'll be ending soon.

You could talk to the loyalty team to see if they'll do anything for you but most customers always get promotions to switch. Also, Chris is right: Virgin ain't giving you a gift card (or let you keep your plan) when you wanna upgrade.

I'll just give you a few notes:

1. Unless you have an unlimited calling plan (starting at $52), Virgin's unlimited E/W times end at 7AM whereas Koodo's ends at 8AM.

2. The included voicemail in Virgin's plans are 3; Koodo has 10.

3. Koodo will never force you to change your plan unless you're moving from Tab S to Tab M and have a plan under $30/$29 or you're going to Tab L. Virgin (and Bell too) has forced EVERYONE to change their plans, no matter what subsidy tier they're with, after adopting the 24 month agreement terms back in August, which has made everyone mad. If there is ever another paradigm shift in the Canadian wireless telecom industry (1 year contracts?), I'm sure they'll do the same thing.

Speaking of changing plans, if you ever switch down to a Silver plan from a Gold plan, Virgin charges you a penalty. Koodo never charges fees for switching plans (the Tab charge is a nice feature, comparatively).

4. Koodo, and shockingly even Telus, doesn't charge anything for changing your phone # as it's free and painless on Self Serve. Virgin charges a $25 fee no matter what you do.

Still wanna go with Virgin? Let me know how they do...

I didn't know why I didn't like Virgin (mobile), but now I do.

I would rather stay with Koodo as I have never had a problem with them - it was just a query as I am sure any of you would have asked if offered the same deal .
