Just a suggestion. Maybe allow us to create a cap on our paid minutes. Like not allowing us to go over our already alloted minutes. So we dont get a shocking bill at the end of the month. Because a min here 2 minutes there really add up quickly.

But you shell out 50 cents per minute you're over. Why stop that?

Hey, you want to shell out x-tra money be my guest lol Some of us don't want to. Some people have teenagers (not me) That pay for their phone and don't want a $400. + phone bill because Susey likes Billy, and they talk on the cell phone while sitting next to each other! Have it as an "OPTION"  Is all im saying :)

I think its a smart idea. And I'm sure that someone of importance will see this and consider it at the least.

Prepaid was designed specifically for situations like these.

So if I get the 50$ promo plan and a prepaid plan I can block minutes being use past 500 minutes?

No, the promo plans are for postpaid only. Are you sure that you'll be going over the 500 minutes? That's a lot of minutes, especially since evenings (5pm) and weekends are unlimited.

The $60 regular plan has all of the same features of the $50 promo, but with 1000 minutes instead of 500. Maybe this plan would be a better fit?

Another option we usually recommend for people traveling overseas is to use VoIP to place calls if you have access to wi-fi. Google Voice/Hangouts or Fongo would allow you to talk for free. Or even skype without video would work. Fongo gives you a Canadian number so you can even be called.
