I returned from the US to Canada last night. I had no problems connecting to various American networks, however since crossing the border back into Canada, my phone has been searching for a network and can't find one. Switching between automatic/manual network selection does not do anything. I have removed the battery and SIM card and that did not work either. Is there a problem with the Koodo network in southern Ontario? My phone is an older Samsung (not sure of model#), circa 2011 with a slide-out keyboard.

When you set it to manual, it scans for available networks and Koodo should come up as an option. What happens when you try to connect manually? You need to give your phone time to search for networks when you switch it to "manual"

Nothing happens when I switch it to manual. It just says 'searching'.

Let it search. It takes time.

I have been letting it search since crossing the border last night. It searched until my battery died. I've since recharged the phone and it still can't find a network. Surely it doens't take 24 hours to find a network?

I'd call Koodo tech support at this point. They can refresh your connection at a network level. Make sure when you call you do so other then another # then your cell phone for troubleshooting purposes. 866-995-6636 Option 6

Will I be charged for this call?

No, technical support is free. It's weird your phone is doing that but it's not the first time... out of curiosity, what phone are you using?

It's a samsung. Not sure of the model#, but it's older (around 2011 or 2012) and has a slide-out keyboard.

If it has a sim card it's an evergreen, if it doesn't it's an intensity.

Wonder what ever happened with this?  Exactly the same thing just happened with my wife's phone, it's an evergreen too.  30 minutes on the phone with tech support they couldn't fix it and told me to go to a store to test whether it's a problem with the phone or the SIM card.

If you put another SIM card in, from Koodo, does it work?

We actually solved the problem by deleting the text message received from Koodo when the phone entered the US, deleting one other text message that had tried to be sent after the return (still unsent because no network connection), and restarting the phone.  Go figure.

That just might be a coincidence. Last time I re-entered Canada with Note 2 that has been on AT&T service for several months in the US, it took about 6 re-boots with the Koodo SIM re-inserted to clear its head properly and for correct time, network and APN to show.

Coincidence perhaps, but the phone was put on airplane mode at the border when entering the US and stayed that way until return four days later to avoid any roaming charges, so it would hardly have had time to switch networks.
