Cannot receive international call from China mobile

Hello,

I found my cell phone cannot receive international call from China mobile cell phone but can receive text message from China mobile cell phone. The China mobile cell phone can call other toronto phone number successfully. Who can tell me what's the reason? The Koodo technician said that Koodo may not sign a long distance call agreement with China mobile. Is this possible? However, I could receive international call from China mobile cell phone last weekend. I just changed from a $40 Canada-Wide Data Plan to a $50 Canada-Wide Data Plan online last week.

Thanks.

It is indeed possible that Koodo doesnt have a deal signed with a specific company over seas yes. Changing your plan like you have wouldn't have affected anything with this. When Koodo signs deals with companies over seas I'm not sure if it's a timed deal that can expire but that's the onlything I ccould possibly see if it worked before and now it doesn't. Have the person trying to call you contact their provider and see if calls have been restricted to Koodo Mobile.

The plan should not affect receiving international calls. I don't really know what else could be wrong. Is it any China mobile customer or just one?

I talked with Koodo technician. As a low level technician, he said they can only assume Koodo may not sign a long distance agreement with China mobile, but he can not give you a 100% answer. He said this kind of information belongs to high level. He can only talk about the possibility.

Water Luo, you could try alternatives, such as register a free FreePhoneLine or Fongo number and forward that to your cell... perhaps that has less restrictions with receiving calls from China.

Another alternative could be Skype but that wouldn't be free. You'd need to get a incoming phone number (which might be available in China? Not sure) and then forward that to your Canadian cell number... but that would set you back around $70 per year or so.

Hope you get your communication sorted!

Hello Sophia,
Thanks for your suggestion. I will try the Fongo solution.

After testing, I found Fongo without using forward function can receive the call from a China mobile cell phone. If forward the Fongo call to a Koodo cell phone, Koodo still blocked the call from China mobile.

Wow, that is REALLY odd! Doesn't Fongo send its own caller ID with incoming calls? At least now you know Koodo is the culprit... I guess the way around this is the Fongo app but still... that is rather strange!

Fongo forward the call with the orginal caller ID to Koodo, so Koodo can only see the the orginal caller ID. I can see the caller ID when I used Fongo to forward a local call to my Koodo cell phone.
