Cancelling a 10 day US add-on

My son is in the US.  He accepted the advertised "deal" that came to his phone when he crossed the border.  It was $40 for 10 days.  Way too much.  I gave him the info to add the 3 day $10 plan for texting thinking I would then cancel the first one.  There is no option to do this.  How do I cancel the first add on?
