The Koodo prepaid phones are locked to it (koodo) so if you want to use the phone on another network like SOLO you have to unlock it. If you choose to do it with koodo the charge are $50 otherwise you can do it on the internet for less than that !

I could be wrong, but I think Koodo does not unlock prepaid phones so yes, the Internet would be the only option :)

There is also the fact that Solo Mobile doesn't accept new activations. So unless you already have an account with them, you won't be able to sign up for a new one. Something to consider is Koodo's prepaid service. It has the same coverage (Bell and Telus roam freely on each other's towers all throughout Canada transparently, their coverage is therefore the same). Prepaid starts at $15 and boosters don't expire, which is very nice! Check it out!

I was thinking the same thing about them no longer accepting new customers.
