From what I read, it is for people with bad credit... my credit is fine but I'd like to add in a spending limit of about $20 bucks or so maximum overage on my account just to avoid bill shock if something stupid happens.

Is there any way to add this?

No. This is not something that can be added on per request.

The only way to absolutely ensure you never go over your budget, Alvin, is by taking a prepaid plan :) The only drawbacks are that 1) you can't use it abroad - though that might be an asset for cost control, haha and 2) if you are a heavy user, it certainly is cheaper to have a plan.
Just mentioning options :)

Koodo will do it for you, no worries :) Feel free to ask additional questions if you have any!

Actually, you can set your own spending limit very easily. Just download any of the many apps that allow control of your usage and set at the limit you want it too. Once you reach that it will cut you off. Your phone will work jut fine but you have click once to be able to go over your self limit.

The drawback against 3rd party solutions is that if they fail to count correctly, it's your loss.

Such Applications will also count MMS (Picture Messaging) as Data use. It's a small amount but it still will count.

My favorite App for this (and also one recommended in the past by Koodo) is 3GWatchdog (Android)
