Yes this or a cordless device, the wireless unit has a connection just like your old corded phone use plug into in your wall. It then transfers wirelessly from the unit to the cellular towers just like your cellphone. You will need to power the wireless unit with AC power by plugging it into an AC outlet as well. If AC power is inturupted it has a battery backup that will last for hours until the power comes back on.

I'd be shocked if this was the case for anyone. "I miss rotary phones" isn't a phrase I have heard from anyone, ever.

Hahaha true but OP did put in caps "OLD" phone describing a candlestick phone. I've seen people use modern ones of the same style but those aren't generally "OLD."

If you mean an old  push- button phone from the1980-1990 era, no, it won't work.  Bell gave me one in 1990, when we had a electronic office switchboard system  installed, for emergency use (these old .phones don't need power)

It woked fine during Toronto's 3 day power outage a few years ago, so we keep for emergecy when all the high tech is dead!!

I have tried it on a koodo home phone we have for a home office and it doesn't work.   Got dial tone but  could not dial numbers.

You can buy medern corded phones but they still run through a powered base set just like cordless phones.

You could get the Wireless Home Phone, and trial it with your phone. If it does not work tomyour satisfaction, you could return it.
