Check the model number on back of the phone. iPhones sold in Canada are model A1549. Another model of iPhone may work on certain bands/frequencies but not be able to access all of them LTE in particular, so you may have reduced coverage and speed.

Hong Kong vendors will likely know nothing about Koodo. If the phone you buy is AT&T (USA) compatible, you should be OK in terms of reception.

I see they sell the A1549 here but there are 2 versions...GSM is one and CDMA is the other.

I am very worried about buying the phone here and ending up with a phone that doesn't work in Canada....plus already taking a chance on the purchase as there is no international warranty on mobile phones over here. Maybe elsewhere too.
Thanks for your replies...I find it difficult to figure out as it doesn't seem to be comparing apples to apples (ha ha) for the frequencies - there are lots of extra numbers and letters and I have no idea what all this means.

Grey market in the orient without warranty back home is taking a chance, even if you do pick the compatible phone.

You don't want CDMA. That will probably disappear entirely from the North American market in the next few years.

Not grey market, buying in proper store electronic store that sells Apple. Apple does not offer Intl warranty no matter where you buy it.
