Hi,

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to use a positive tab balance to buy a phone without getting switched to the new tab system?

Most of my family switched to Koodo a few years ago and some of them are grandfathered into unlimited data plans for, if I remember correctly, $60.  Some of them have maxed out their positive tab balance ($150) and would like to get newer phones.

Assume they go purchase a Galaxy S3 for $168 and use their $150 positive tab so they only need to pay $18 out of pocket.  They want to keep their old plan.  Will using their positive tab balance towards the purchase of a new phone force them onto the new tab system where they get nothing contributed towards their tab balance each month?

Yes, using any portion of your positive tab will result in being placed onto the new tab system.
