Can I keep my iPhone 5s when I upgrade to the iPhone 6?

I bought the iPhone 5s in December with the plan being the: $39/month CAN Data 400MB 400min. I paid $300 and as of today I have a -$172 tab balance, so I was wondering if I could upgrade to the new iPhone 6? If so, do I need to pay off my tab entirely? Also, will I be able to keep the 5s or will I have return it to Koodo when upgrading? The reason I ask is because I want to give the IPhone 6 to a family member. Thanks for all of your input!

You will need to pay off the entire Tab balance before getting a new Tab for the iPhone 6. You also have the option of buying the iPhone 6 outright and keeping your existing tab.

Regardless, you will be able to keep your existing iPhone 5. Personally, the iPhone 5 is still worth a fair bit on Kijiji. Get the iPhone 6 and sell the iPhone 5 for a decent profit.

Good luck.

Oops, just saw that you wanted to keep the iPhone 5. Ignore the selling comment.

No worries, also I forgot how things work with Koodo...Once I pay my current tab and go to upgrade to the 6, the minimum I'd pay for the iPhone 6 is $400 which is the 16GB..correct me if I'm wrong.

All depending on your current tab balance and what tab you end up choosing when you get the new iPhone, also Koodo doesn't have any official pricing as of yet for the iPhone 6 but for other providers it starts at $749 off contract. If you wanted to pay your tab off completely you have one of two options of doing so, either pay it off in store when you get the new phone or charge it to your next invoice, whichever is convenient for you.

Hope that helps! :)
