Sure the phone will be compatible. However it may need to be unlocked first.

And of course you will still be responsible for your Telus account
What do you mean unlocked? And what do you mean by a Telus account ?

Cellphones are carrier locked to their provider so it cant be used with other providers. Some Telus and Koodo phones work on each other's network but not all so it may need to be unlocked.

I assume you meant you are getting a Telus phone on a 2 year agreement since Koodo does not have contracts. If that's the case, you are paying for Telus service while using (paying) for Koodo service at the same time or you are cancelling the Telus contract.

Telus and Koodo are two completely separate companies so you can't get a phone from Telus on a 2 year agreement with Koodo service (plans), you would have to get a plan from Telus for the 2 year agreement since that's why you get the phone at a subsidized price because you are using their service.
If you want a Telus phone to use on Koodo you would have to pay full price for the phone from Telus then get it unlocked and then you can use it on Koodo or any compatible carrier you choose.
