I am with another carrier and I like the Nexus 5. I would just like to buy the Nexus 5 but I don't want to join Koodo

certain koodo dealers (not all) will sell phones outright usually at a higher rate since you are not an active koodo customer but I have seen it done. Hope this helps :)

Buy a Preowned one from TELUS instead: https://shop.telus.com/preowned_nexus...
$60 cheaper, and if it doesn't look like new, you can ask them to send you a different one.

Hippie is this new? I thought they only sold with an activation. Did the policy change?

Hi Chad, im pretty sure it all comes down to the location you go to as certain dealers like too keep all their phones on hand to be sold as an activation and others are willing to sell them outright and make the extra couple of dollars here and there. I don't believe koodo has a policy against selling out right phones as I've bought outright phones from koodo authorized dealers before.

Kakarot, this is regarding corporate Koodo locations, not dealers.

You wouldn't get the $100 bonus offer if your not a customer however so keep that in mind as well.

Hi there, our Koodo stores can sell a phone outright without activation but a premium will be added to the price of the phone. Furthermore, we will consider that it's for a prepaid account so a prepaid SIM card will be provided. Thank you!

So are we ever going to get an answer to Dennis' question Yannick? And what do you mean by not higher end models, i had mentioned before that my friend was able to get an S5 and another thread where someone got an LG G3, those are considered high end are they not?

I think they mean high end at the time of purchase which both phones you mention are a year old now and not the highest end phones available right now their specs are outdated. The presently high end phones are kept for Koodo customers because they are in high demand and short supply alot of the time compared to last year's models.

True paul but im just confused because the koodo employees on the community first started to say that it was impossible to purchase a phone retail price without a Koodo account, and now that people are saying that they have and that it is possible, now the employees are stating that it is impossible under certain conditions. Im just wondering what the actual answer is.

See? The Koodo employees only answer when it is simple and convenient for them to. When it is a question that actually requires for them to work and to find the answer, they do not help us.

I wouldn't suggest buying it from Koodo outright since it will be more expensive. I suggest buying the Nexus 5 maybe on Craigslist (make sure it's unlocked).

And of course it's going to be cheaper off something like Craigslist because you'd be buying a used phone where Koodo is selling you a brand new phone in the box with all the accessories and a full 1 year warranty, it's worth buying phones brand new for an extra bit of cash IMO.
