Can an LGv10 international unlocked phone work with my koodo prepaid sim card?

Planning to order it on amazon, the choice of models are H962 and H960A. I don't know the model on the white one. The v10 isn't sold in Canada unfortunately.

Since the v10 isn't sold in Canada, I was planning on buying the LGG4 outright at a Koodo store and then unlocking it, because the guy there told me it will not work with my prepaid sim unless its unlocked. Also he said that unlocking voids the warranty. So in that case, I might as well get the phone I wanted in the first place. It'd be cheaper for me to buy it outright online than outright at a Koodo store.

So I'm wondering if my Koodo sim card would work on an international LGv10 unlocked phone.

Thank you. :)

The H960A version is compatible with Koodo

You can use any Telus or Koodo phone on Koodo Prepaid. It doesn't need to be Unlocked to do so either.

However not every device is available for outright purchase by prepaid (mon monthly), customers. These devices typically retail for 500$ and up.

Unlocking a device does not have any impact on the warranty. All of my devices are unlocked by third party (not koodo) unlockers and I've never had warranty denials as a result.

Thanks for replying! It's interesting that the Koodo guy I spoke with said that their G4 won't work with their Koodo prepaid sim card and that the phone would be voided if unlocked. But thanks for telling me that it ain't so. I guessed he told me that so I would sign up for the tab plan.

Cool, so I'll get the H960A version.

Was the specs you highlighted things that are compatible with Koodo? Where did you find Koodo's spec compatibility?

Koodo supports the following frequencies (employee posts):

3G/HSPA 850/1900 and 4G/LTE 1700/2100MHz.

2G on a phone is irrelevant as far as Koodo/Telus/Bell are concerned.

If you are shoping overseas, they will most likely know nothing about Koodo. Look for AT&T 100% compatible.

Thank you. I'm a noob when it comes to frequency specs of a phone. Are the green check marks the ones that are compatible with Koodo where the red arrows are pointing to?

Yes. Common designation is North America 3G: 850/1900  4G: LTE Band 4

Most international version phones will do the 3G OK as they will cover both the 850/1900 set & also the 900/1800 set used overseas for voice.

Where it gets complicated is in the data area and 4G/LTE. So pretty well any international phone is great for yakity, yak, but don't necessarily email back.

So I this case the H962A isn't fully compatible and lacks 4G LTE. Which is why I suggested the H960A
