i bought a koodo phone at a yardsale and want to activate prepaid service

You sure can. All you need is a prepaid SIM that fits that phone than u can activate it online

To add on to what melissa said: You will need to pay 20$ for the prepaid SIM card, and only actual Koodo kiosks sell the prepaid cards (No resellers such as bestbuy/walmart sell prepaid SIM's)

To add what Matthieu also said is u can get them off of eBay also pretty cheap but make sure u get it from a buyer with lots of positive feed back.

Not if it's a CDMA phone (that doesn't take a SIM card). If that's the case, she bought a paperweight.
