The camera on my galaxy 2 fails all the time after I upgraded to jelly bean. A restart fixes it but only for one photo. I tried pulling the battery out while it was onand I just tried a factory reset but nothing works. Is it a hardware problem? It is less than 3 months old. Do I take it to Best Buy? It is my home phone as well so I can't be without it long. Thanks!

After you did factory reset and still camera fails all the time, only solution send it for repair at koodo store or see Best Buy if you have an extended warranty, before you do that, try this: Go to Settngs, Apps, All, Gallery click on clear data and clear cache. It will pop up and say all content will be permanently erased but just click ok anyway - I know it has nothing to do with Gallery!, it'll be last thing to do before you send your phone for repair regarding camera problem.

If you take a lot of pictures it's possible you may have reached the storage capacity of your microSD card. By default, the camera will send pictures to the microSD card if one is installed. If no microSD card is installed, then pictures are stored on the phones internal storage.

Check the gallery area as Mat has suggested and see how many pictures are stored there. If you see that you have a lot of pictures, you can easily transfer those pictures to your computer via usb.

This will free up storage space and should restore camera functionality. If you're taking pictures at the highest resolution (8 megapixels), this will consume more storage space.

If that doesn't work, try experimenting with third-party camera apps and see if the problem still exists.

Since this solution worked it means that Jelly Bean was not an issue at all. It was just a matter of timing really (too many photos just after I installed JB).

Assuming it stil doesn't work, consider going back to ICS

This is what I meant in previous post when I was saying that posters should follow on their posts like Vanessa did today just to show her recognition!

So unfortunately my phone was only fixed temporarily and I ended up sending it for repair. It came back, (they flashed it) worked for a bit, and then the camera failed again. I took it in again and they repaired it again (this time they replaced the camera and they said that nothing was wrong even though it failed for me) and now it is not working again. Does this mean it is one of my Google Play apps that is causing the trouble? I am only using a few and fairly basic ones. I am pretty frustrated at this point. I have had to use a loaner phone twice and reinstall and reconfigure everything twice now and no doubt I have to do it again. I am going to call Koodo and ask for a new phone - I assume that eventually I will get one? The phone is still under warranty. :(

You went through lot of problems with your camera, you repaired it twice, your camera got even replaced, you just were unlucky with the phone, what else you can do?, it's better to change to different phone.
