Hi Folks,
I guess this is partially my fault for not looking into it further, but I recently switched from Telus over to Koodo.  I also referred a handful of family members, so my account for the last 3 months or so was getting credits. Because of this, I didn't end up reading my bill as closely as I had thought...until I got my real bill today!

Logged into my account, and noticed that I'm getting billed more than $30/month in CALL FORWARDING charges. Now, to be honest, I use a 3rd party voice messaging system which I've been using for over 5 years with telus. This number is a LOCAL voicemail number and my conditional call forwarding on my phone is set to redirect calls there instead of the koodo voicemail system.

Is there anything I can do about this?

I was only paying $50/month on my old corporate Telus plan, so getting hit with this now makes my bill with Koodo closer to 90 a month!

I will have to port away from Koodo if there are no good alternaties :(

Additionally, I'm really frustrated that Koodo tech support never told me this. I had them on the phone originally to have them remove the koodo voicemail and I made it very clear to them my intentions, and they even helped me with the conditional call forwarding!

Why would they set something up without telling me I may occur charges?

You would definitely benefit from the call forwarding add-on, that way call forwarding uses your regular minutes but does not cost extra. Without the add-on, call forwarding is $0.50/minute and yes, that adds up quickly!

Unfortunately call forwarding is generally not included with plans. It is available as a 3 dollar a month add-on that you can add in your self-serve.

I'm definately okay with $3 a month. But it added up SO quickly as I use this for work and even a hangup to my voicemail nailed me! Any chances Koodo will work with me on the previous charges? :(

Well we don't work for Koodo so it's hard to say... but since you just signed up they might (MIGHT!!) work with you on this, especially if you prove to them you have already added the $3 add-on. That said I give it only a small chance but I guess it's worth a try :)

You can send a private message to Koodo via Facebook or DM via Twitter and explain your situation. There's no guarantees but it's always worth a shot.

Already added the feature just before you posted this reply. I'm crossing my fingers!
I've referred 5 people to koodo since signing up in January this is super frustrating! I'm going to have to warn them all so this doesn't happen! (I'm the tech guy and set up al their voicemails the same way!)

You know the saying, honey, flies, as opposed to vinegar, and all that :) Wishing you good luck!

Yes, there are a number of advantages to Telus' corporate plans, some of which do not exist even for their retail / personal accounts. Tech support would be responsible to help you with the technical difficulties you were experiencing. Their focus would not be about the plan you have or how you wish to manage it, outside of the technical issues arising from your plan - e.g., a voice & text plan may have an attached data block.
