I'm going to buy a phone outright soon, and I was just wondering what the "10% discount" means (

Also, I will be using positive tab balance to buy a phone, and I was just wondering if Koodo still offers the 10% of bill amount towards my tab balance or is that no longer available now?

I'm pretty sure this is gone now and the tab has changed a lot since that was written. The 10% discount is now present in all plans and you always pay for the entire cost of the phone. The tab offered now spreads that cost over two years and is added to the bill.

So the prices advertised is the monthly bill price. You don't get an additional 10% off.

So if you buy a phone outright you automatically get the 10% discount in the plan price, and you don't have to pay more to service a tab balance (since you don't need a subsidized phone). If you're on an older plan then the plan just went up 10% if you were planning on getting that after your tab hits zero. The latter part has been discussed quite a bit on these forums, but it sounds like it doesn't apply to you (I assume).

Assuming you are on a plan with the old tab system than yes you can get the bring your own phone discount of 10% off. When I went to a koodo kiosk they told me my phone would no longer be on the old tab system when I upgraded devices even with buying it outright unless I brought over a unlocked phone. I went to a best buy Mobile shop. They were able to get it for me although they messed up using my tab credits buy I didn't care after the amount of time it took then and it was about $3 in credits. They also gave me a $150 best buy gift card. My $60 plan now costs $54 a month except that I just switched to a black Friday plan now.
