I am attempting to buy a phone online via the webstore. I am a prepaid plan holder and so I click on the phone I would like to purchase, and then it prompts me to choose a plan. I don't want a plan, I have a prepaid plan. I just want the phone...

The phones found here: https://www.koodomobile.com/phones are only available to purchase online by postpaid plan holders.
You will have to go into a store to purchase a phone and will have to buy it outright as you are on prepaid.

Part of the "deal" you get on a post-paid phone is absorbed by the price of the plan.
If you want to know the real retail value of a phone you want to buy, check out Amazon, eBay and other retail sellers.
I've personally had great success with some refurb units on eBay and Kijiji. One quarter the original price of a flagship phone if you don't insist on having the latest and greatest.

If you are flexible in your choice, try to pick a new phone that can accommodate your current SIM. Your current SIM can go into an identical slot or a smaller one (but not safely in a bigger one) if it's the newer punch-out type. The $20 credit that goes with prepaid SIMS is for new accounts only, not repairs or renewals, so keep that in mind.
