Buy Zero Tab Nexus 5 then switch to Prepaid SIM - is this cheaper or is there a catch?

I'm interested in buying a Nexus 5. I want a prepaid phone. Koodo charges $450 for a prepaid Nexus 5, but only $350 for it with a Zero Tab. Would it make sense for me to get the Zero Tab version, then cancel it and get a Koodo SIM for $10, or is there a catch to buying the Tab version that I don't see?

$360 is a more attractive price than $450, so I'd prefer that if there aren't hidden fees.

If you can swing it then yes, you need to pay at least one months service plus a few days for Activation.

lowest plan is 29$ if im not mistaken.
You just port the nunber to prepaid and they'll send you a bill.

It'll be 20$ for your sim on prepaid as well. Kinda cuts into your savings.

But the prepaid Sims comes with a $20 activation credit.

I guess the prepaid SIM cards are $20, but the switch still seems like the way to go.
