If you know ANYONE with a Koodo account, they can do it for you. Have them call customer service from their phone and request the unlock. They will be billed $35 on their next bill (or $35 deducted from their balance if they're on prepaid). Once that's done, all YOU have to do is plug the phone into iTunes after and the unlock will be complete.

It's such an easy, simple and MUCH cheaper option if you have a friend on Koodo.

Switch to koodo you get more for less (10% off any plan if you bring your own phone) , better service, get to keep your number save on unlocking your iphone as well.

Ahmad - I am pretty sure that the phone has to be on the account for at least 90 days before they would be able to unlock the phone.

Another option is if there are malls around you, many have kiosks set up primarily for unlocking the phone.

Thanks for the replies.
There is a guy at a kiosk in a mall. $120 to do it, The koodo store recommended I go to him...thought that was odd.

Friend using koodo sounds like an interesting idea. Think I'll ask around, but will likely have to fork over the $120.

oh yeah, the unlocker websites all seem to be scams from what i have come across.

Koodo charges $35 to unlock the phones...only if you are a Koodo customer. What I learned is that Apple holds the codes, when they sell their phones to providers like Koodo, they still hold the keys to the locks so to speak. In order to get a phone unlocked, the company that bought the phone has to ask Apple to unlock it for them. So Rogers and Koodo and such charge a nominal fee to their own customers but if you are not their customer they will not make the request on your behalf (that is what the Koodo rep told me when I asked her). You have to go to a middleman who can get the job done which increases the cost. Of the online guys that I have researched, they are all advertising scams. Go to someone locally that you know is reliable. I got the phone unlocked after Koodo, Rogers and one other local company all recommended the same guy. It took 5 days and cost $120.
