Bought Galaxy S9 a month ago, but need to cancel service immediately. What fees do I pay?

I got my plan 3 weeks ago. Paid $0 for the phone as I got tab extra large. My monthly minus tax is $80 + $30 tab charge a month.

When I call in to cancel service, the customer agent got very angry and asked why I even got the phone if I wanted to cancel. I told her it is for personal reasons and she berated me by saying "Yeah yeah ok, sure". She finally gave me the breakdown for the bill if I cancel which was:

  1. $80 + $30 = $110 + taxes for the first month of service

  2. $110 * 24 = $2640 + taxes for the rest of the 24 months of service

I don't know if this is correct because I am not going to use it for 24 months! Why am I having to pay this on top of rude service? Please can someone clarify?

Not sure you should have to pay the full monthly amount, but there should be something other than the $30 per month for 2 years, as part of the phone cost is subsidized by locking you in for 2 years with them.

You wont pay that much. You would with other companies though.
You'll be on hook for the days you've used your plan for (so some fraction of $80) and then your remaining tab ($30 * 24 months) = $720.

Well, it has been there for a while, so properly more people is staying with Koodo than leaving ones.
So just to clarify if we cancel its just remaining months×tab with no plan charges on top?

And the prorated amount of what you've used of your plan.
The prorated amount is only for the months i have been with the plan right? And not the remaining months?. Thanks for the answer btw

That's correct, only for the time you have used the plan.
