It's very easy to burn through 100MB. What were you doing at the time you bought the top-up?

I spent more time sending my yes than the message to come back that used or my data that I already purchased

Maybe something in the background ate your data the moment you receive it. Aren't you on Wi Fi when you are using your phone at home? Since you were working on your laptop I assume you were using Wi FI, as well.

What phone are you using? You should ensure that updates (both for the OS as well as for your apps) are not set to automatic. You should set these to only update automatically when connected to Wi-Fi. My phone just went through some app updates and it was nearly 200 MB (I hadn't updated in a while).

Another thing, if using the Facebook app, make sure that autoplaying of videos is disabled on mobile connections. This can eat away at your data quickly (though it likely wasn't the cause in your particular case).

Google phones (ie Samsung) back your pictures and videos up automatically. You will need to go to GooglePhotos app and turn off automatic backup.
