My koodo blackberry curve won't turn on, I have had it for a couple of years and lately it has been acting up, won't hold the charge and says battery too low for radio use and it will have 80 percent battery life. I'm in Summerside pe, can I take it somewhere up here and get another phone?

You're in luck,

There's a Mobile shop not far from you and now is a great time to buy a great midrange device as an upgrade for your tired BlackBerry

If you want to stick with BlackBerry, check out the Q5 which gives you the all new BlackBerry 10 OS. It's really something special.

Also there is the HTC Desire which is ultra thin and light with a crisp screen and forward facing speakers.

And the Moto G is a quad core performer with a huge battery that lasts all day.

All three are currently 150$ outright. There may even be specials available in store.

Would the tab option be available to me? Also if there any way I can get my contacts or info off the blackberry if it won't turn on?

Did you originally have a tab? Are you on prepaid now?

It actually turned on, after being plugged in for hours and hours. Battery is dead though and it is on it's last legs. I should be able to back it up. If I don't get a blackberry can I still transfer contacts or no?

If you're able to keep.it running download Google sync from BlackBerry World

Create a Google account and associate it with Google sync

Backup your contacts to Google sync.

Then when you get your next phone you can sync your contacts back from your Google account.

Great! I'm seeing now that the option I originally suggested (Google sync) was discontinued. It's been a while. Glad to see the tutorial worked. :-)

I am on a tab with about 90 dollars left or so. It's month by month contract.

I would goto the Mobile Shop I listed above, the people at mobile shop just do mobile all day long.i think you'll get better options there and more attention then if you went over to Walmart. Plus they may have specials and deals that Walmart may not.

Ok thank you for all your help! One last question before I go, do I need to backup my old blackberry on a computer or will the google sync take care of that for me?

The only thing that we just backed up was your contacts. If you use the calendar you'll need to sync that too.

The apps you use now aren't compatible with the Q5 (if that's the direction you were thinking) nor are they compatible with Android or iPhone. Yes I would backup the phone in case you ever want to get a new battery and go back to it but that's about all that's good for.

I am trying a Motorola G and have 14 days to decide if I like it or not. May go with blackberry Q5 if I don't like it! Was quick and easy to upgrade!!

It's easy to transfer contacts from old BBs, actually. Just pair the phones through Bluetooth, go to the Bluetooth menu in your BB, select the new phone, hit BB menu button, and then "Transfer contacts".
