Why can't the blackberry 10 have the "blackberry social" add on? I'm not getting the phone just for this reason as I don't mess around with data.

The BB 10 doesn't use data the same way older BB do. So data is just available without the need for a specific BB plan. A huge step forward imho.

Hi there Josh... As Chad said, the new BB Z10 does not need special provisioning on the system for the bbm, e-mail, etc to work... Now work as any other phone for data, and uses as much data as any other phone, since before used to compress data...

I still think the BB social should be offered for the BB10.I normally ADD the BB social pack when I go back to work for the season its great for an additional 10.00 and when the season is over I take it off since I don't use my phone as much. Now I got BB Q5 so I wont be able to add the social this year and I don't want to loose my plan as its an older much better plan

Well, as nice as it would be, they can't do it anymore.

BBM and E-mails REQUIRED data on the old OS 7 phones, so that forced people to take data plans, but the provisioning was special - it went through RIM's servers. The carriers could monitor and control the data transmission that took place, hence the "Unlimited social networking" and "Unlimited email" add-ons being offered before. Now that it uses "regular" data, they can only offer buckets of data for you to use at your discretion. Plus, BBMs and emails can now go WiFi only, which is a bonus.
