Hi, I have had a Koodo account for almost a year now but lost my phone so I need to upgrade. I have been on the $150 tab but need to upgrade to the $300 tab for the Nexus 4. My question is....does Koodo check your credit if you enlarge your tab. They did when i signed up and it lowered my score. That was fine but will be shopping for a mortgage soon and dont want a hit. Does anyone know if they do another check? Thanks!

Any time you're asking for any sort of credit, a credit check is performed. If you're getting a new tab, this applies no matter the tab size.

If you're worried about your mortgage application, I'd recommend doing that first. A $300 "loan" from Koodo shouldn't impact your credit score all that much but it's better to be safe than sorry.

We were buying a new car at the same time as our condo. We waited for the mortgage to be approved and finalized before applying for car financing.

Hi Ivan, we will not do another credit check for the Tab M as Robert is already a customer. Credit checks are done only on new activations and for upgrades to Tab L. Thank you !

Your current tab would have to be paid over the counter or through an invoice. Based off what you're stating, you would be eligible for $300 off the phone. As for the large tab it depends what your credit is with Koodo when you activated whether or not you'll be eligible for it not.

As far as I know, there is no credit check done when clients upgrade in the store, the hit on the credit happens only at the activation... The system will just verify that the account is in good status and that client is eligible to have the negative TAB... I could be wrong on this one, but I have taken lots of Channel Care calls in the past...

But I do agree with Ivan, to play safe, you could go for the mortgage first and then do other moves...

Thank you everyone for your advice!!!

Popular opinion was right. I went to the Koodo kiosk at the mall and was able to upgrade from the tab small to medium without any credit hit. Just had to pay off my old tab of $90 or so and initial a couple papers and received my new phone. In and out in 5 minutes. Bravo to Koodo for their efficient service.
