well I can say I have had my first not so good koodo rep fail lol but can't say it all the reps fault I was pretty frustrated at the time of the third rep that I got for my phone issue ...finally resolved just have to wait for the new phone to come in the mail. but for the two who were very helpful a big thanks goes out to koodo rep trinity from thunder bay and Roberto not sure where from but thanks again .:) oh and my phone issue was from the kit Kat update making my phone not take calls and go right to the answering machine and also it takes just about 10 hours to charge my phone from % 25 battery and as I type this it's plugged in and just went from % 9 to % 8 percent how does that work ?..lol well anyway my rant is done haha thanks again koodo for fixing my issue oh and lastly if u have a note 2 DONT UPDATE to kit Kat. ..

Just to be sure, Are you using the charger that came with the phone?

Check under Battery stats to see what might be eating your battery.

AND if you just updated and have a lot of media files on your device, It could be that the Media Scanner is rebuilding its database which does take some juice.

Yes I use the charger that came with the phone and I don't run any apps and almost no pics and no videos... I use my phone just as a phone lol ...and not a hardware problem the koodo reps agree that it is the update they said a lot off ppl have had issues for the note 2 kit Kat update so it's soft ware but I'm just going with what they think as I am pretty technology dumb haha and also when my phone does finish charging and it only took 8 hours last night to charge but when it is done charging the battery doesn't drain faster then normal ......

Can't receive calls on 3 different phones?

Let's try to be helpful. The 3 phones can't all be bad. I have a Note II that has worked flawlessly from Eastern Canada to Southwest US, with Koodo and another US provider while I'm down south.

Android Signal strength: what are your results

First make sure that Airplane and Blocking Mode are off. Sounds basic, but if I put my phone into my pocket in a certain way without turning off the screen, the contact with body heat is enough to produce a touch on the screen. Once or twice pulled out the phone to find it’s muted.

Also noted that if I am calling Koodo to Koodo, I have to list the prefix 1 before the area code in my contact numbers or else sometimes the call will not complete. We forget that “free” long distance doesn’t mean we don’t have to dial it in the conventional way.

Bars on the phone are just barely decorations. Download from Google Play:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/de...

or something similar. Gives fairly instanteneous readings for voice and data in dB units. As long as you show less than 100 -dBm, you should be able to communicate. If you can send yourself a text and receive it promptly, then the network connection is working.

Even in areas that have good coverage, it’s not uncommon to have dead zones. Stay away from large metallic objects such as wrought iron railings and open any metallic window blinds.

Had a local problem with trees galore at home in a rural area and was able to find a “hot spot” where everything works.

There are sister apps that will do the same for WiFi coverage as well.

I can't believe this either three phones but its true and there was somebody else on here that have the same problem and kudos sent them a nexus 5 I just want a phone that works I am NOT looking for anything more than what I paid for I have tried everything that everybody suggest the airplane mode and everything else signal in my area is very good with the first phone it seems to happen right after chargingalso the first phone when I turned on wifi I could not get on the internet somebody suggested resetting the phone and this helped then I could not receive calls I am very familiar with phones and the settings to me it seems like there is a software glitch and all of the phones I've been receiving are within a certain serial number anyway I have had a problem with Koodo and the LG Cookie nobody would admit it was a bad phone until a year or two later let's be honest when the phone is no good and you're still selling it they will not admit to it let's just get rid of the problem when they sell out the phones then maybe something will be donemy girlfriend has a phone with Koodo and she can be right next to me and receive calls and my phone won't Hmmm

I believe it.....I too am going thru the same issue with my Note 2. The phone will not receive calls and this happens intermittently. It will receive calls flawlessly for 1 hour and then starts to fail the next hour for 10 minutes. Like I said this problem is very random and annoying to no end, since this phone now is failing to do one of the basic function that this phone is designed to do.

I'm on my 2nd Note 2 as the first one was sent back to Koodo and both had this same intermittent fail. Before I sent the 1st Note 2 back to Koodo, I went to my kiosk where I bought the phone from and they were kind enough to lend me a Samsung Galaxy Mega for 10 days. We took the sim from the Note 2 and put it into the Galaxy Mega, the phone never failed, it always worked.

I dealt with tech support and engineering and they came to the conclusion that the network was OK and that the problem was the phone, in this case the Note 2. I personally think the issue is with the O/S ( Kit Kat ).....that would be my guess.

I am still trying to resolve a solution for me, with Koodo, will update you when that happens.

Presently, my phone is at a Samsung repair centre and am not holding out much hope for a solution. They repaired 1st Note 2 with a "The complaint could not be replicated" and a "Device master reset to original factory settings and returned without repair."

I am still trying to resolve a solution for me, with Koodo, and will update you when that happens.

Latest Update

Well I got 2nd Note 2 back from an authorized Samsung Repair Centre and guess what, the problem is still there. So I returned it back to them and they couldn't fix it. They gave me a replacement phone, another Note 2 and guess what, same problem, intermittently the phone fails to ring (volume @ max) when someone calls. Presently I'm on my 3rd Note 2 and am not very happy with this model.

I then decided to unlock the phone and move on to a new carrier to see if this would help. I changed my service provider, got a new sim, and guess what, the same problem returned after about a day or two.

I now decided to contact Samsung Customer Care and they escalated my problem to Samsung Executive customer care. Now a NEW problem showed up, their Executive customer care said they couldn't help me, because my last replacement phone that I received from their service center, was out of warranty.

I wouldn't care if the phone fails to run an app or a game runs to slow, but this problem is one of the two basic functions that any cell phone should be able to do reliably and this model fails miserably at.

This is making my decision of which new phone to get, easier, (ABS) Anything But Samsung.

Just how does this topic qualify as "answered"?

Knife-sharpening response here: get the phone unlocked and try a seriously different carrier (≠ Telus or Bell) for under 14 days so that you cancel without penalty.

Sometimes in life, things don't play nice together. Don't play finger-pointing, but try not to kill the referee in the process.

If you have a snow-bound day sometime, just google "samsung connection issues".

My samsung note 2 is also doing the same thing if I turn the wifi off problem seems to go away.

turning the wifi off is not an acceptable solution.

I have a loner Samsung S3 haven't missed any calls yet and Koodo has my Note 2 witch sure they will just factory reset and say its fine and probably scratch it up more

Right now I am not to happy with Koodo will just have to hope my note 2 actually gets a software update to fix it.

This is not been answered my Note 2 still has the problem.

turning wifi off seemed to work best and and network on auto connect lte/wcdma/gsm

Please post if turning your wifi off is working for you I am interested if it works for anyone else as I had 2 days with no missed calls with wifi off also turning it off then back on would restore connection and I could receive calls again for while.

I will be retesting my note 2 when it comes back from repair
I hope Samsung actually fixes it but if not Ill do few days of testing with wifi off and post the results here.

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced the same problems 'prior' to upgrading to KitKat. The 'calls being forwarded to voicemail' issue appears to stem from this upgrade. Three months ago, I posted a method that would allow one to revert to a previous version of Android (e.g. 4.3 JellyBean/TELUS)

http://community.koodomobile.com/kood...

The idea behind this was to see if downgrading to an earlier OS would eliminate the problem and to try and determine whether the issue was software or possibly hardware related. As I said in my previous post, I don't have the Note 2, but I did say that I would monitor the thread for results or questions. Since then, no one has ventured forward to try this method.

I do realize one shouldn't have to go through all of this just to get their phone to work properly. I'm simply suggesting a possible solution to the problem and my offer still stands; I will monitor the thread if anyone wants to give this a go and post their results here or in the other posting.

When I got my 3rd Note 2 from the authorized service center, it had Android 4.3 (Jellybean) on it. That phone worked for one to two days before the same problem came back. I kept the phone at Android 4.3 for two more days just to make sure, and the same problem came back a few more times. I then allowed the Note 2 to install, the forced upgrade, Android 4.4.2 (Kit Kat). After having testing the phone for about an hour, the same problem problem came back.

I have basically given up on this phone and will be getting a new one but it will not be a Samsung. I have come to this decision given they sold this defective device and the poor customer service I got from them.

I started to try this but the Samsung website was being difficult and I gave up, besides I can't see this being the problem as it seems to be something to do with switching modes like WiFi on or off, or aften charging, a koodo, rep had suggested #21# and then send this helps, the thing is for me I never know when my phone is accepting or declining calls. Samsung and koodo need to step up and fix this, this is unlike GM who avoids a recall until necessary, I don't think anobody will suffer physical injury as you would with a vehicle, but it is very annoying, to buy a phone and not have it work,my warranty is upretty soon ando I suppose this is how what the goal is to ride me out of warranty.

I got my phone back I am still having the same problems with it also has some small scratches now :(

I did more testing with wifi off and I still miss calls sorry its hard to tell what works and doesn't be cause the problem is intermittent

I have been video taping the problem to prove my point that there is something going wrong with the note 2

I think someone from Samsung needs to look at the cell radio driver I think its crashing and when you phone out again it resets the driver that's why it takes good 10-15 sec to call out and then works for while again

I could be completely wrong

My loner Samsung S3 phone never missed a call once while I had it

I dropped my phone off again to day got another S3
witch seems to be working correctly.

I don't have much hopes that my phone will be fixed.

If they don't have it fixed by 3rd time I am returning charger phone box and all cables to the store and filing a complaint to http://www.ccts-cprst.ca/
and of course telling them don't send me a bill cause If you can't honor your side of the contract why should I.

I also plan to video tape the drop off maybe Ill buy a Lennon to place on the counter with my phone.

I really hope they can find a fix I love everything about the phone accept the miss calls and delayed texts there has to be a way to fix the problem

I have a good case and MHL to HDMI adapter so I can watch videos on my tv
will really suck having to get new case and accessories again.

I finally fixed my problem by changing my phone to a completely different model. I said bye-bye forever to my Samsung Note 2 (SGH-I317M) and got myself an LG G3 (LG-D852), and guess what, I don't miss any calls ever. I transferred my SIM, my 32 Gig memory card from my Note 2 to the G3, kept my service provider and now my phone works properly. The phone always rings when a call is coming in and doesn't have to go to my voicemail.

I've wasted enough time doing all that troubleshooting with little or no help from Samsung. I am now a happy camper with a phone that is fast and works reliably.

BTW My LG G3 is running Android 5.0.1 and so far so good!

That's the part that I am having trouble with, they are more than happy to sell my another phone, but buying one and it doesn't work bothers me. If I have to buy one I am finding it hard to be from Koodo they used to look after their customers. I am sure if they went to Samsung and explained this, they could get a better result than you or me, most of Koodos phones are Samsung and the would have a good say.. I have been told a few times by Koodo that nobody else is having this problem, and that Koodo keeps track of these things. Doesn't look lie they do.

I received my samsung galaxy note 2 back yesterday it is still missing calls and delayed texts.

The loner samsung galaxy s3 worked flawlessly when I had it

When I was at the store they told me that they did a factory reset and that's it
same as the first time.

when I suggested that they need to find a way to get Samsung to update the phone to fix the problem they said there will be no more updates for your phone because the phone is end of life.

My phone is only 7 months old why should I keep paying for a broken phone for 2 years when it doesn't work properly plus I have been living with the problem for the past 3 months

I have been trying an app called Signal Guard that claims to keep the cell phone connected and it lists the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 in the list of phones that it helps some users say the free version is a trial but if it works Ill gladly buy it.

so far the phone has been working all day I have called it good 8-12 times and it worked also koodo engineering said they would
be looking in to problem when I called this morning so it maybe that koodo fixed the problem on there end some how but they where never able to fix it be for.

I'll be keeping an eye on my phone tomorrow I'll turn off the Signal Guard app see it problem comes back or not

also if anyone else wants to try the Signal Guard app and report the results that would be good.

Signal Guard app doesn't work all the time

I am still missing calls this samsung galaxy note 2 phone is driving me nuts

I am currently using an old beat up Htc Incredible S I got from the trash I re-soldered the micro USB port cause it wouldn't charge and I unlocked it
its been flawless in receiving calls/texts and data after setting up koodo apn for data just like the loner samsung S3 was.

I plan on taking phone directly to Samsung service center along with video recording of the problem I am having

This is Samsung/Koodo's last chance to get it right

I Missed a call from my surgeon for an earlier date for my surgery on a 10cm cyst on my spleen cause this stupid phone / carrier problem

I will never get another Samsung product again I mean really a phone that doesn't receive calls with perfect signal and has been in for repair 2 times already
all I can say is 3 strikes and I am not paying for lemon service/phone

also I will try to post what Samsung did to fix my phone if they fix it properly this time.

I called Samsung directly as I live in a northern community but it took sending the phone 7 times as they try to fix it 3 times and then send a refurbished , I received a phone that finally seems to work, I sent a note along with the repair order, stating to look at the antenna and radio receiver switch. Good luck

I ended up giving up with My note 2 and I managed to get a $100 off my Koodo tab and had also got $33.25 off my bill the month before I also got to keep my note 2 which is still under warranty with Samsung I will try sending it into Samsung myself and hope that maybe they can fix it as I still spent $200 for a non working phone.

I ended up getting the Samsung Galaxy s3 as I knew that it was working because the loaner phone I was using was a galaxy s3 plus I had also bought the MHL adapter to hook the note 2 to my TV it is also compatible with the s3 phone otherwise I would have gotten a different brand phone.

I still miss my note 2's Big screen but I'm also liking my s3 because it fits better in my pocket I really wish I could have gotten my samsung galaxy note 2 fixed as paying $200 for a non working phone is ridiculous and Samsung should have straight up had to trade it for a different model if they can't fix it.

Koodo changed my plan to save money
and I'll have to watch my data
got the $33 plus $7 tab for then new phone
saves me $11.30 a month

at least Koodo is trying to help it's not really Koodo's falt it's more Samsungs falt for not fixing the Note 2 Phone.

also I'll post up here if I ever find a fix for the note 2 missing calls/texts.

I think you did the right thing, which was to get another model of phone. I, too, had the same problem with my Note 2 and had tried many different solutions, but all to no avail. After several months of aggravation with my Note 2, I swore I would never buy another Samsung device again. Their customer service leaves much to be desired.

A month ago, I got an LG G3 and haven't looked back since. Life is good again, Thank you LG, for giving me back my sanity.

Well after many months of complaining to Samsung I managed to get them to replace my phone with a galaxy note 3 which I have been using for about a
month now and have not missed any calls or texts.

I must have called Samsung at least 20 to 30 times probably more Samsung certainly did not make it easy to get the replacement phone you really have to stick to your guns and keep pressure on them before they will do anything for you and most people don't have the time to be calling them for hours and hours on the phone normally I wouldn't have had the time to do this but I was off work for surgery for a large 12 centimeter cyst on my spleen the surgery went well but I was off work for a while

what ended up giving me the leverage was the fact that I I took video of the problem and I also wrote a letter with as many websites with people

complaining about the same thing and I also said I was posting up my video on my YouTube channel

I also told them that I would not stop sending in the phone until it was fixed I also explained to them  that each time I send in the phone it ends

up costing them money to have it looked at  I have proceeded to do the calculations on costs shipping $20-30 plus tech $30-50 if I send my phone in as

many times as possible  and that it would cost more  then refunding my money or giving me a replacement phone.

I then said if you can't fix it properly I want another phone or my money back they agreed to send me a brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phone also

while I was on the phone I was recording the conversations on my end and when I called back a few days after they said they were going to send me a

shipping label for my note 2 they then said they knew nothing about replacing my phone with a Samsung galaxy note 3

I then proceeded to tell them I

recorded audio from the previous person that said I would get a note 3 for replacement. After putting me on hold for 20 min they said I found some

notes on your file about it likely if I hadn't recorded the conversation I would not have a note 3 right now.

I don't know if anyone is really watching this forum any more but just thought I would post my successful story.

Nice, I had to give up they said that my warranty was up and they couldn't help. I bought an LG G3 which works. Very disappointed with Samsung and Koodo..
Koodo has a lot of Samsung in their for tier and could have leveraged them.
I won't support Samsung for quite some time.
